Ayuda urgente skimmer deltec mce600 no para de espumar y desborda!!!!!!

Hola compañeros!!!

Necesito vuestra ayuda urgente, os cuento el motivo

Ayer finalmente llene mi acuario, es un 240 litros como quiza hayais visto en el otro post que tengo en el foro, va a ser un solo peces sin sump por lo que puse las dos bombas de recirculacion, el calentador y el skimmer, un deltec MCE 600.

El agua no tiene nada echado mas que los primeros 4 kilos de sal para que se vayan disolviendo, nada mas, no hay tierra (voy a echar arena viva pero no la metere hasta que no estabilice la salinidad del agua), no hay rocas, nada, solo agua cristal y equipos.

Pues bien conecto el skimmer y aun con todo el aire abierto y la copa lo mas alta posible en su posicion, eso empieza a espumar y se me llena la copa, de espuma primero y de agua despues, en menos de dos minutos....he probado todo lo que se me ha ocurrido pero sigue pasando igual salvo si cierro el aire obviamente, pero en cuanto lo abro un poquito eso se va de las manos......asi que no he podido hacer otra cosa que desenchufarlo....

Lo puse ayer sobre las 15 horas y hasta hoy ha estado funcionando, lo deje para ver si tenia que "habituarse" y este fenomeno cesaba pero no hay manera...y cuando he llegado a casa la espuma rebosaba por el agujero de escape de la copa....no se que hacer...

Se os ocurre que puede ser??? ayudadme por favor.

Una subidita a ver si alguien te echa un cable porque no se me ocurre nada de nada y mira que estube un año y algo con ese skimmer...

Es posible que tengan que pasar 24/48 h. para que se estabilize, la mejor situacion es que restrinjas el aire al minimo, con el fin de que funcione pero no te cree tanta espuma, pasado un par de dias, deberias de poder ajustarlo sin problemas.

No se me ocurre nada mas, en el fondo esto tiene la misma ciencia que un botijo, asi que cosas raras pocas y menos con este equipo que es muy fiable.

Pruebalo y en un par de dias nos cuentas como va la cosa

prueba a fregarlo bien si es nuevo con eso casi seguro que se soluciona el problema.
no olvides darle un buen aclarado que no queden residuos.

Hey!!! creo que ya lo tengo, parece ser que al estar el agua tan limpia y con algunos tipos de sales que tienen algunos compuestos, al adicionarla hacen que la tension superficial sea critica y eso no para de espumar, en la pagina donde lo he visto sugieren apagar durante unos dias e incluso semanas ya que como apenas hay desechos no pasa nada, incluso es hasta bueno. Asi que nada, voy a añadir casi la totalidad de la sal y lo dejaré unos dias sin poner y luego probaré de nuevo.

Excessive Bubble Syndrome

We get many calls and emails from people new to the hobby or to Deltec skimmers about high levels of foaming or micro bubbles that are returning to their aquariums from their new Deltec skimmer.

This can be quite normal and is a result of the salt water that they have produced not as yet being mature enough for the high performance of the Deltec skimmers.
Reasons for Excessive Bubble Syndrome

Many brands of salt used for aquarium water are made up from component parts to reproduce the elements found in natural sea water. One of the additives introduced to many salts is a conditioning agent which is put in to react with heavy metals and toxins in the water and neutralise their negative effect.

The down side of this additive is that it can increase the surface tension of the water and enable bubbles to hold their form much longer than would be natural with mature salt water.

This effect disappears as the water stabilises and reacts with waste in the system but until it does it causes many people concern which results in a call or an email to us.

To convince yourself of this fact just look at the bubbles in the skimmer cup. They effervesce like when you open a bottle of fizzy drink, which is not how mature water reacts in a skimmer. The bubbles also smell very clean and when you watch them in the tank you will see that they do not burst for an unusually long period of time.

Once the water has matured or the conditioners have been skimmed out then the problem will go away.

Effects reported are:

* My skimmer is producing excessive foam and filling the cup with a clear liquid
* Lots of small bubbles are returning to my aquarium.

These comments are most often reported on the MC500 and MCE600 models, probably as these are more often bought by people new to Deltec Skimmers or with new tank setups however both of these issues are indicative of the water maturation issue detailed above.

This problem is uncommon on many basic, low air volume skimmers and is indicative of the incredible amount of air produced by the Deltec units and the small size of the bubbles.
What is the Solution?

The only solution to this issue is to until the water matures so that the surface tension drops and the bubbles disappear. This process can take from a few days to a number of weeks to clear completely but can be accelerated by observing the following tips.

* If the water is very new and there are excessive bubbles which continue to fill the cup with a clear liquid then the best initial course of action may be to switch the unit off for a week or so and then try it again. Most people having bought a nice new skimmer are reluctant to do this however during the initial stages there is little in the water to skim and the waste helps greatly to react with the salt compounds and mature the water faster.

If the cup is overfilling with bubbles try smearing a little Vaseline around the top of the cup and air vent to burst the bubbles and to run the clear liquid back into the skimmer.

* If the problem is not as acute than this and it is only excessive small bubbles returning to the tank then either live with it for a while whilst the water matures or again switch the skimmer off or only run it on a night when you can not see the bubbles.

In both cases feeding the tank reasonably heavily will add waste products for the sterile salt solution to react with - even if there are no fish or creatures in the tank.

Do not carry out large, (if any), water changes at this point as you are just adding to the problem by introducing more of the conditioning agents.

Please note that the pumps on the MC500 and MCE 600 either pump water, when the air tap is closed, or an air water mix when the tap is open. Many people when they start seeing bubbles appearing in their tank instinctively close down the air supply which reduces the air intake but also increases the water flow and washes the everlasting bubbles out of the skimmer and into the tank.
Final Note

Out of all of the people that we have explained this to, nobody has come back to us after 2-3 weeks and said that the observed problem had not gone away.

Una consulta, he estado mirando y se me ocurrio que quiza podria poner un poco de resinas a la salida del skimmer que le vendrían bien al solo peces, habia pensado comprar una mallla de material filtrante y añadirle Purigen y Phosguard....que os parece?? muy mala idea??? alguien tiene algun tipo de material filtrante a la salida del skimmer, segun el fabricante se puede poner....
